With twin boys, a new baby and a burgeoning family business, it is little wonder that Becky Jago’s maternity leave from her job at ITV Anglia television is flying by.

“I can’t believe Rupert is already four months old,” she says. “It feels as though he is growing so fast. He smiles all the time, and has done since he was born . . . although obviously everyone says it’s wind!”

In the autumn she will return to our screens as co-presenter of Anglia Tonight with our new columnist Jonathan Wills, but for now she is enjoying every moment of family life.

Her twins Hugo and Chester have just turned seven and she admits that the big age gap wasn’t something she and husband Pablo planned.

“But having the two boys together was quite a handful,” she says, with a smile. “So the age difference seems to work perfectly now.

“They absolutely love coming home from school to see him; it is just lovely. They adore him and when they come bursting in it gives me a fresh injection of energy for the rest of the day.”

She admits she was dreading Rupert’s birth after some difficult complications with the twins.

“He weighed 9lb 1oz, but thankfully it was a really lovely easy birth and I was home the same day.”

Mother’s Day will be extra special this year with Rupert’s arrival, but Becky says it is a time of mixed emotions for her following the death of her own mum 15 years ago.

“I am sure the boys will make me a card which is all I really want. For so many years, it was a sad day because it reminded me of my mum, but now that I am a mum, it feels special again.”

After posing for a photoshoot with our regular columnist and BBC Look East presenter Susie Fowler-Watt when they were both pregnant, Becky says the two have become friends.

“I didn’t know her terribly well but we really hit it off and get together with little Hugo, who is gorgeous, and Rupert. People tend to look quite confused when they see us together, like somehow it is wrong, that we are in competition”, she laughs.

She says although she is excited about returning to our screens, she is dreading leaving Rupert.

“I have been watching and I think ‘Did I do that; can I still do that?’ Sometimes I just feel like a viewer – I really wanted to send my snow pictures in,” she says mischievously.

For now, she is helping Pablo run their business Yaxham Waters – a holiday park, delightful café and farm shop not far from Dereham, which is co-owned by Timothy Hay - and she admits that for her at least, it is an idyllic life.

“Pablo does all the hard work, but for me and the boys it is like being on holiday. I spend a lot of time in our café. I am actually starting to feel a little bit embarrassed I am there so much. They must think I never cook anything.

“But it is just a lovely place for the boys to grow up. Sometimes I have to pinch myself and remember how lucky we are.

“The kids love it when we camp out on the site - although I did sneak home to the warmth of my own bed once,” she giggles.
