Peak Christmas-tree time is here with the promise of a flurry of firs as folks flock to buy their festive centrepiece. 
It’s an expedition that’s exciting and full of family joy, wrapping up warm, choosing a tree – and adding to the fun buying baubles and sipping on a hot chocolate. 
Where to go? Here are some of Yorkshire Life’s go-to places to soak up the tree-time joy and enjoy something extra  

Croft Christmas Trees 
This place does exactly what it says on the tin. Trees – all shapes, sizes and varieties, carefully grown on site at the fabulous plantation. You can choose your tree and head to The Box for hot choc and sweet treats too. There’s a fabulous emporium of baubles and decorations to make your visit magical. 
Added extra: December 5th: All the festive feels with a nativity and carol service, from 6pm 

Top tree tips from the Croft Christmas Trees experts: 
*Try and let the tree stand outside in a bucket of water for a few days before taking it inside 
*At home treat your tree as you would flowers – topping up the water regularly  
*Try and keep the tree away from radiators, fires and underfloor heating.

Stockeld Park 


Head to the Tree Marquee at Stockeld Park where there are 500,000 Christmas Trees in the ground, covering some 250 acres.  The park is opposite the winter wonderland at Stockeld Park, where the magic happens with a Christmas extravaganza promising the biggest and best yet with the Grotto Dome experience and brand-new Enchanted Elevator. The Dome, houses an explorative pathway through to Santa’s grotto and the brand-new purpose built ‘Enchanted Elevator’ for a jingle ride to Santa in his log cabin. 
The fun doesn’t stop after the grotto though as families can take a spin on the ice rink, explore the giant snowflake maze or go on a captivating stroll through the forest to see Stockeld Park’s dazzling winter illuminations.

Added extra: Visitors will also have the chance to get creative at the Christmas craft village, and kickback at the Stockeld theatre for the festive show.  

Weetons, Harrogate  
Quite the festive destination in the grand Leeds Road emporium. 
Brilliant selection of trees, wreaths and flowers to buy as well as great decorations and homewares. If you're in the mood for food there are plenty of options - from coffee with a lemon blueberry cake (fabulous!) to posh sausage rolls in the garden-facing cafe to fancy dining in the smart restaurant.

Added extra: Over the festive period book in for breakfast with Santa.  
 
Moss and Moor 
Ilkley’s popular garden centre sustainability sources their Yorkshire-grown fresh cut and potted Christmas trees. For every tree cut, a tree is planted by the local farmers. There is a lovely shop selling gifts made by local producers and artists and a cafe and food hall in the garden centre too.

Added extra:  Book in for festive afternoon tea as part of your trip.  

Yolk Farm & Minskip Farm Shop 
The Christmas Tree Barn is waiting at this popular farm shop near Boroughbridge where’s there’s the chance to stock up on your festive feast essentials too. 
Added extra: At Yolk there’s late night shopping on December 5th with delicious pizzas fresh from the  wood-fired oven with special festive toppings!  
Suppliers will be showcasing food and gifts and you can  bring the family and challenge your friends with the collection of board and card games for all. 

Cannon Hall Garden Centre 
Located in the historic village of Cawthorne in South Yorkshire, Cannon Hall Garden Centre has a wide range of Christmas decorations, fresh Christmas trees, potted mini trees and festive plans such as Poinsettias.

Added extra: On your way to the centre don’t forget to stop by Thyme Café for a lovely mince pie.
