Garden inspiration

Willow angel decorations, a winter snowscape lantern, wreaths and mantle decorations – the experts at RHS Harlow Carr have inspiration in abundance with a series of workshops during November and December. If you prefer someone else to do the hard work, local talented artists, crafters and designers will be showcasing their Christmas designs and locally handcrafted pieces at the Bath House Gallery.

Wreaths rock

Brimham Rocks is a rather spectacular spot to craft a Christmas wreath. Front door-worthy wreaths are inspired by the local countryside at Brimham and use locally sourced foliage and flowers. The relaxed workshops are led by Michelle Allen-Brown of Storm & Rose and will take participants step by step through the process. Workshops are two hours and £40 per wreath. Festive refreshments and car parking are included.

Hands on

From a needlefelt Santa to metalsmithing festive decorations, there’s a fine selection of crafty courses – including wreath-making – on offer at The Art House

in Wakefield. Spend a morning learning how to print your very own festive cards to send to friends and family this Christmas – a lovely personal touch. Experts are on hand to ensure you come away with treats to treasure.

Harrogate Horticultural Nursery offers a perfect start to the festive season with a wreath making workshop that will guide you through the process of making your unique festive arrangement from winter evergreen foliage foraged from its own pinewoods. On November 25 & 26, the nursery also hosts a Christmas artisan market with Little Bird Markets artisan market stalls.

Make a sustainable Christmas wreath for the festive season at Helmsley Walled Garden.You’ll use long lengths of willow to create a base ring for your wreath and then get creative, using lots of foliage to decorate your wreath. Forage the garden for additional materials, such as seed heads.These wreaths are good for the environment, made from 100% natural materials, and the willow-base will last for years.

Add a touch of splendid, homemade Christmas cheer to your home with a Christmas Wreath Making Workshop at How Stean Gorge in Nidderdale. Under expert guidance you will create a beautiful wreath decoration for your front door or in home. There is a wide choice of natural and festive decorations for you to choose from. Join the company of fellow crafters and enjoy warm mulled wine and homemade mince pies.

At The Manor House in Lindley there are candle-making and wreath-making sessions to get you in the mood for the festivities. Candles with experts from Snug and a foliage flurry with Lynn from Stems Design. Prosecco afternoon tea included too.
