Olympic champion Katy Marchant (Nicholls) is excited to be back home in Yorkshire after winning gold in Paris 2024 as part of the women’s GB sprint team. In between winning medals and breaking world records, she enjoys life as a farmer’s wife in Barwick, Elmet, with her husband, Robert, and their two-year-old son, Arthur. She’s also the baker behind Katy’s Cake Kitchen.
Something in Yorkshire that makes you smile
Definitely the people. I absolutely love being part of the Yorkshire family.
A place you love to eat
My favourite place to eat has to be Laynes Espresso in Leeds for brunch and coffee. The food is absolutely yum, plus breakfast is my favourite meal of the day!
A childhood memory
My favourite childhood memory has to be on my now husband’s farm when we were really young bouncing on the trampoline and climbing around the hay barn in the summer. Little did I know 20 years later I’d married a true Yorkshire farmer!
A cultural go-to
Homemade Yorkshire puddings!!
Inspiration outdoors
My absolute go-to is always Temple Newsam. It’s on my doorstep and there’s so many options of things to do – especially walking the dogs and bike rides with the family. I love the fresh, outdoor parks, all the paces to eat and drink there, and of course, the ice cream!
A place for indulgence
Has to be Victoria Gate in Leeds to feed the shopping habit.
A Yorkshire view that inspires
A Yorkshire view that inspires me has to be Almscliffe Crag for sunset when seen from Harewood. Phenomenal.
I’m never happier than when . . .
I’m surrounded by my family at home outdoors in the sunshine!
Three words that sum up your best Yorkshire life
