Grassington

Did you know Grassington is the home of Channel 5’s period drama All Creatures Great and Small?

It's also described as “idyllic as it gets” by The Yorkshireman.

The online magazine for Yorkshire adds: “The traditional village is full of character including a cobbled town square, stone cottages and the beautiful Linton Falls waterfall. You won’t be short of places to eat and drink on your visit that’s for sure.”

Grassington is also only a short drive away from Bolton Abbey and one of the UK’s top market towns, Skipton.

Malham

This village which sits on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales is said to have “breathtaking natural beauty”, according to Secret Yorkshire.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park website recommends visitors adventure up the 400 stone steps to see the “lunar landscape of limestone pavement at the top of the awe-inspiring natural amphitheatre Malham Cove”.

Plus, expect to be “enchanted” by Janet’s Foss, a gladed woodland waterfall said to be the “home of the queen of the fairies” and admire the “dramatic surroundings” at Gordale Scar.

If you’re looking for somewhere to stop for a hearty lunch or a juicy burger in the evening after a day of walking, The Lister Arms could be your new favourite place to dine.

West Burton

Another pretty village in the Yorkshire Dales is none other than West Burton.

This “unspoilt corner of Yorkshire” is centred around a green, surrounded by “stunning scenery with footpaths from the village leading to open fields and the wide open countryside,” shares Beautiful Escapes.

It adds: “The village has a good local butcher, village shop and tearoom and a traditional inn serving local ales and food.”

Kettlewell

This “charming” location is home to “grey stone houses, cute tea tooms and classic cosy pubs,” ideal for hiding in when the weather isn’t at its best, writes The Yorkshireman.
