A former 17th-century coaching inn, The Lister Arms in Malham – part of Daniel Thwaites - boasts an abundance of dog-friendly amenities and walks, providing the pawfect base for guests and their canine companions.
As dog lovers, The Lister Arms takes care of its four-legged guests from the moment they check-in to the moment they ‘wag’ their tail goodbye. No member of the family needs to be left behind as all The Lister Arms’ 23 bedrooms are dog friendly and upon arrival, all four-pawed guests are greeted with treats, bed and bowls for use throughout their stay. The pet friendly property features both carpet and non-slip wood floors throughout its charming, country-style bedrooms, with five rooms conveniently located on the ground floor with easy access to the beautiful gardens. Each bedroom can accommodate up to three well-behaved dogs.
With country-inspired interiors, small details, and at the centre of it all, a traditional stone fireplace, the atmospheric bar area at The Lister Arms offers an ideal heaven for hounds. While their humans enjoy a delicious, homecooked meal, furry friends can make the most of the comfy dog beds scattered around the bar area, or on those sunny days, they can head out to the outdoor terrace - the perfect spot for tired pooches to enjoy an afternoon snooze.
Fresh water and unlimited complimentary homemade dog treats are provided to all dogs throughout their visit.
Homemade, hearty food is at the core of the four-star inn, and The Lister Arms boasts its own on-site bakery which not only produces the famous Lister pies for humans, but it is also responsible for creating delicious treats that are perfect for pooches. Bone-shaped and packed full of delicious ingredients including oats, chicken stock, brown flour, unsalted butter and grated cheese - the tasty treats are complimentary for all dogs. Overnight canine guests are also treated to a breakfast sausage each morning of their stay.
Across the beck and simply a short stroll away, guests will find the peaceful sanctuary of The Lister Barn.
Rustic yet luxurious in design, The Lister Barn features eight bedrooms, an open plan living area and a private garden – perfect for when pooches want to come-and-go as they please.
After a busy day exploring, paw-rents will conveniently find a dog wash at the front door complete with hose, dog shampoo and towels, while its dedicated boot room provides dog owners with a convenient location to store muddy wellies and dog gear.
For sheer location alone, The Lister Arms in Malham is a fell walker and dog lover’s paradise. Thanks to the inn’s location, guests can step out into the spectacular Yorkshire Dales, with the famous circular walk of Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Janet’s Foss right on the doorstep. Train lovers can take their wellbehaved pets on The Embsay and Bolton Abbey steam train, taking in the panoramic views of the
Yorkshire Dales, while nearby market towns include Grassington and Skipton, which both offer an abundance of dog-friendly shops, restaurants and cafes.
