Kimberley and Jamie married in Cuckfield, with a reception at Jeremy’s in Borde Hill
It was wet and blustery when Kimberley, her mum and her future mother-in-law visited Jeremy’s as a possible wedding venue. “We squeezed the appointment in among the whirlwind of other venue viewings that day; we were looking for the ‘wow’ factor and Jeremy’s did not disappoint,” says Kimberley.
Despite the wind and the rain, Kimberley was transfixed by Jeremy’s beautiful walled garden and the relaxed feel. She took Jamie for dinner there later in the week, where the couple decided “there and then” to book the venue for their summer wedding the following year.
The couple were married at nearby Cuckfield church with just over 100 guests for a sit-down meal at Jeremy’s. The menu comprised a starter of organic salmon fishcake on pea puree, salad, and cucumber jelly and tarragon mayonnaise, followed by Southdown loin of lamb, garlic dauphinoise, Mediterranean vegetables and rosemary jus. Strawberry soup, meringue and strawberry sorbet completed the meal. Jo, Jeremy’s wedding planner, helped the couple put together their special day. “Our brief was to feature fish on the menu, as we both like fish very much,” said Kimberley. “So Jo helped us choose a lovely salmon starter. Jeremy’s food was amazing, so many of our guests commented on how delicious the menu was and the pudding was as pretty as a picture on the plate.” Guests were welcomed by a string quartet, Vanity Springs, who played in the garden as guests arrived.
Kimberley had three bridemaids who wore long mint green dresses from Ted Baker, and Jamie’s groomsmen wore suits in indigo blue from Next.
The couple choose simple flowers, with a fresh feel, almost as if they had been picked straight from the garden, designed by Churches florist in nearby Handcross. Kimberley’s bouquet had pale pink, mint greens and cream flowers, including roses and freesias, and the bridesmaids’ bouquets were a smaller version of Kimberley’s.
The couple chose Henry Wells as their photographer, having fallen in love with his style and creativity, although they find it very hard to pick a favourite photograph from the big day! “He captured the essence of the day beautifully,” says Kimberley. “And he has given us some wonderfully precious memories.”
