Sunday saw Hove Rivervale lift the Sussex W J Jewell Trophy in an exciting 8-2 cup final win over Crawley United.

The under-12s team cruised into the final, scoring thirty six times and failing to concede a single goal in their five ties. Their final goal tally is a record-breaking 44 over the 6 games.

Although they dominated and played some great football throughout the match, they started slowly, hitting the woodwork 3 times and went into half time 2-1 up. A mistake in defence put Crawley back on level terms. This only seemed to spur the Hove team on. Ben Aubrey scored 6 goals and the other 2 went to Sean Dennehy and Lucas Piveteau.

Manager Ian Gilmour said: “My team played superbly, I couldn’t have asked them to give anything more. I am really proud of them all, I have a special team this season. We are well on course to lift the Sussex Sunday Youth League Division 1 title having reached this stage of the season unbeaten and are looking forward to the U12 KO Cup Final on the 20th of this month.”
