Amberfield School may be small but there is no lack of opportunity to take part in a full range of school trips and to benefit from the curriculum enrichment and personal development these afford. We strongly encourage girls to go on residential trips as they provide invaluable opportunities for having a go at new activities; for gaining cultural insights; for reinforcing team building and self confidence. In the younger years, a residential trip may represent a child’s first night away from home without parents and is often the first challenge to overcome. Once they are older, Amberfield School offers pupils the chance to journey further afield with more unusual activities which serves as an important foundation for independent travel in gap years and beyond.A party of girls and staff from Amberfield School has recently returned from a trip to Kenya. In advance of their travels, contact was made with the Arise and Shine Children’s Home in the Rift Valley to establish how Amberfield’s community might help. Our resulting appeal generated donations of clothes and toys to fill 17 hold-alls. They received a heartfelt welcome and a joyful day was spent with the Kenyan children. One of the highlights of Year 9 at Amberfield is a trip to the Battlefields and War Memorials of the Ypres Salient. Here the girls have the opportunity to investigate WWI trenches and consider the impact and enormity of world war.
