Frome was recently crowned as the best place to live in Somerset, but there is also plenty for the day trippers and visitors.

Cheese and Grain

The Cheese and Grain is a not-for-profit, member owned social enterprise and also a registered charity.

It is famous for the markets and events it holds in its hall. Here you can find everything from music nights and comedy to festivals, exhibitions and markets. It often hosts both local artists and more widely known bands, including rock band the Foo Fighters in early 2017.

Catherine Hill

A cobbly street packed with retail gems. Here you will find everything from gifts to vintage clothes and accessories, ceramics, haberdashery, art galleries, and more.

Catherine Hill is situated in central Frome, off Stony Street and Catherine Street. The hilly route is also somewhere you will find an antiques shop or two.

Festival fever

The Frome Festival is a community and arts festival which takes place over 10 days every July.

It lines up a number of acts and artists across more than 40 venues.

Headline names for 2022 included Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley, legendary singer guitarists Andy Fairweather Low and Wilko Johnson; plus rock outfit the Kris Barras Band.

Frome Independent

On the first Sunday of each month from March to December, the Frome Independent Market fills Frome’s streets. The Frome Independent brings together the best local food and drink, artists and designers, produce, plants, flowers, retro, vintage, collectables, homewares and street entertainment.
