The hotel

A boutique hotel in the middle of a picture-perfect town, surrounded by peace and tranquillity but minutes from Orlando’s theme parks and International Drive – does that sound too good to be true?

That’s what we thought when we turned up at Bohemian Hotel Celebration, one of eight hotels that are part of the Kessler Collection and a member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, a group of high personality and boldly independent boutique hotels.

But it truly is like stepping into another little world. Just a few moments off the main highway connecting key parts of Orlando is Celebration – a colonial-style town with a picture-perfect lake at its centre.

And tucked away overlooking the lake is this fabulous, old Florida style hotel, which cleverly mixes the personality of colonial elegance with modern luxury.

Attractive in every way, this 115-room hotel is intimate, relaxing and uses warm colours and clever lighting to make guests feel welcome.

We stayed in a suite overlooking the lake.

With a four-poster bed, separate seating area and added extras such as Bose speakers and a flat-screen television – the high standards were reflected throughout.

There is no sign of tired décor at this hotel – every wall, every floor and every piece of furniture is immaculate and it was as though we were stepping into a brand new hotel when it came to the standard of public areas and our room.

I cannot emphasise enough how much, as a couple, we really appreciated the serenity and haven of this superb hotel each day when we had returned from Orlando’s exciting, but bustling, parks.

As if the standards of the hotel hadn’t delighted us enough, the cherry on the cake was the professionalism and helpfulness of every single member of staff we encountered.

They could not do enough to help.

Tip: Do not miss happy hour for a fantastic cocktail (or two) overlooking the lake.
