From ‘posh pods’ to hidden treehouses, you can camp out in style this summer

Hengrave Meadow Glamping

This luxurious glampsite on the edge of a pretty village offers fully-furnished bell tents in a gorgeous meadow location. Each tent comes complete with its own covered outdoor kitchen equipped with a camping stove and utensils as well as a private shower and toilet in a converted shepherd's hut. There’s also a communal pot wash and fridge in a converted stable with handy powerpoints for charging phones and even a little library. Thirty minutes from the coast, the nearest shops and pubs are in Reepham - half an hour’s gentle cycling using one of the courtesy bikes available. Well-behaved dogs are always welcome, and groups can book all three tents to take over the whole site for exclusive use, including children - otherwise it’s an adults-only space.

Applewood Countryside Park

Located next to Banham Zoo, the wooden Posh Pods here sleep two and are fully furnished with home comforts, while being in the heart of a rural setting. Pods include everything from bed linen and a digital TV to table, chairs and a mini-kitchen (fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, crockery and cutlery). Just remember towels - bathroom facilities are by way of shared amenities on the site (which also includes touring pitches) and include two accessible showers. Larger family Shepherd's Cabins have their own en-suite bathroom, fully-fitted kitchen and private deck - as well as a handy collection of board games in case the Great British weather isn’t quite up to scratch! Elsewhere on site, there are designated ball games and dog-walking areas and a laundry

Family shepherd's cabins (sleep two adults and two children) start from £410 for a three-night stay between Easter and September.

Whitlingham Broad

Set within 80 acres of country park and with a watersports centre on the doorstep, yet just a mile from Norwich city centre, this site makes for an ideal weekend base for active families. The Wildings Elms Meadow

This eco-friendly retreat in south Norfolk was rated 10 out of 10 by Pitchup.com guests in 2023, taking sixth place in the East Anglian Top 10. The two shepherd's huts are located in a secluded meadow with plenty of rewilded areas and a pond to encourage wildlife. This is a place to escape from the hectic pace of everyday life and tune into the rhythms of the natural world, from the dawn chorus in the morning to the crackling of a fire and stargazing at night. There’s also a handy on-site honesty shop for basic provisions, including firewood. Huts themselves are beautifully presented and well-insulated with all you need to enjoy your stay, including a woodburning stove, designated shower and toilet close by, equipped kitchenette and firepit.
