A seaside town in Lancashire has been named one of the best for food and drink in a list by Which?

Nearly 5,000 Which? members voted for the best and worst seaside towns rating everything from the beaches to the tourist attractions, it explained.

Lytham St Annes is among the seaside towns that received four stars for food and drink.

Its overall destination score was 74%, the same as Aberaeron in Ceredigion, Wales, Deal in Kent and North Berwick in East Lothian, Scotland.

What Which? said about the best seaside food in the north west

Which? said: “The North West isn’t well represented in our list of the best seaside towns, but Lytham St Annes, just a few miles down the coast from Blackpool, gets plaudits for its food and drink.

“Zen Restaurant - which specialises in Chinese and Thai food - was named the country’s best East Asian restaurant in the Food Awards last year. 

“Unlike Blackpool, Lytham also gets four stars for peace and quiet.”

The Zen Restaurant has been praised on Tripadvisor, earning a 4.5-star rating from 1,213 reviews.

One visitor returned to the restaurant when staying in the area and said: “Been here a couple of years ago when staying at St Anne’s so as we were staying again booked in and we wasn’t disappointment. Food and service were both excellent and we extremely enjoyed our night.”

Another said they enjoyed their experience: “We love coming here, most wonderful staff, who go the extra 'smile' to make sure you are having the best meal and dining experience. They helped to make our 25th wedding anniversary meal out that little bit more special. Menu is sensibly priced, really good value, and everything we tried tasted superb.”

One customer noted the variety of food available, saying: “Great food served by excellent staff. The restaurant was busy with a good atmosphere. Good choice of Thai, Malay and Chinese food. Good value for money.”
