Q: What sets a wool carpet apart from other options?

A: The wool fibres and jute fabric that we use to create our wide range of carpets have a natural resilience to compression. When you step onto your carpet, the materials bounce back to ensure a soft, calming sensation which also retains the initial appearance of the carpet.

We offer an amazingly broad selection of woollen carpets, as the wool blends and jute fabric have been used to create floor coverings for generations. As a result, the carpets that we provide strengthen the British textile industry with time-honoured techniques and keep our carpets suitable for a range of budgets and preferences.

For example, the colour palette of our wool carpets is varied and vibrant. The popular Crofter collection has both loop and cut pile options in complementing natural shades – giving a traditional countryside feel to any room in your home. The contrasting Wentworth range has a choice of 18 stunning, up-to-the-minute colours that are perfect for introducing a stylish, contemporary aesthetic to your interior.

Q: Are wool carpets durable and long-lasting?

A: Carpets that have been made with the finest quality wools tend to have an intrinsic resilience that increases their longevity and durability. Wool is the ultimate “bounce back” fibre, keeping the carpet shape and soft to the touch for many years. The key to ensuring that your quality wool carpet lasts a long time is to take care of it.

Fortunately, our carpets need only a modicum of care and maintenance. Here are a few tips that we’re happy to provide:

  • Use an upright vacuum cleaner with a beater bar attachment two or three times a week.
  • Remove outdoor shoes when entering the room.
  • Tackle stains quickly with a WoolSafe approved cleaning product.
  • Place mats at each entrance to reduce the amount of dirt and soil brought into the room.
  • Close curtains where possible to protect the carpet from direct sunlight.

Q: How do you ensure that your carpets are environmentally friendly?

A: Throughout our process, from sourcing the materials to weaving the carpets, we aim to keep our impact on the planet to a minimum. Our wool and jute fibre, the two critical components of wool carpets, are sustainably sourced. Many wool rich tufted carpets on the market use a synthetic backing, which is a lot more harmful to the environment than natural jute.

A golden silky fibre produced from the stems of the Corchorus plant, jute has been cultivated in India and Bangladesh for centuries. Integrating the fabric woven from this incredible, sustainable fibre is not only better for the environment; it's much easier for carpet installers to work with too. This flexible, strong and resilient material will provide a superb finish for your carpet, even on tricky areas such as a staircase.

Any waste material generated during the manufacturing process is recycled into our Ecofelt underlay.

Q: What makes a high-quality woollen carpet a crucial part of your home decor

A: Whether it's sourcing premium yarns or the level of care during the manufacturing stages, we’re passionate about creating carpets of exceptional quality that will be an integral part of your home. We carry out at least five quality control checks throughout the manufacturing process to ensure that our carpets are of the highest standard.

By keeping our dedication to quality and service, as well as keeping traditional techniques alive, we strive to provide carpets that brighten up every home!
