Celebrating the winners of The Best of... Art Competition at Rochester Independent College
Despite the wintery weather it was celebrations all round at a lively gathering at Rochester Independent College to award the winners of The Best of... Art Competition their prizes. World-renowned artist and illustrator Ralph Steadman was the head judge, ably assisted by Kent Life photographer Rikard Österlund. The competition was organised by a happy partnership between Rochester Independent College, University of Kent’s School of Music and Fine Art and award-winning arts magazine WOW. In addition to the main prizes, the very first Ralph Steadman Art & Design Scholarship was also awarded, giving a young person of exceptional potential the opportunity to study A Levels, including Art, full time at Rochester Independent College. Emma Dewhurst, founder and editor of WOW magazine said, “This county is bursting at the seams with artistic talent. Entrants of all ages produced artworks in every medium imaginable answering to the theme of ‘Now’, and every person in the room on judging day was uplifted by the results.”
