Portsmouth High School’s Head Girl team were delighted to present Teenage Cancer Trust with a cheque for £5,135.61 after spending a year fundraising for the cause.
The Sixth Form chose the charity because it felt very close and real to them. Beth Bartlam, Regional Fundraiser for Teenage Cancer Trust, who received the cheque said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be receiving such an incredible donation from Portsmouth High School, the girls should be so proud of what all their hard work has achieved for Teenage Cancer Trust.
“It costs us around £1000 every day to support our new unit at Southampton General Hospital as well as our cancer awareness and support services. That means that the students have helped us to fund nearly five days of vital support for young people here in the South; thank you so much, it’s amazing.”
“Teenage Cancer Trust is a hugely deserving charity and we are thrilled we have been able to help them in this way,’ said Head Girl, Lucy Wickham. “The whole Sixth Form pulled together over the past 12 months to deliver a vast range of fun activities across the school. This has been an amazing year. I am really pleased that we will be making a difference to the lives of these teenagers.”
