With a family heritage stretching back 95 years, Deal of Kelvedon has a history to be proud of, as well as some very exciting plans for the future

In 1919, Cyril J Deal, a keen motorcyclist, opened a Triumph ‘Motors and Cycles’ dealership in Kelvedon. He knew from the start that he wanted to establish a local business, to forge a relationship with his customers, to become a landmark in the area he loved.

He worked hard and his business flourished. In the first 40 years, Cyril J Deal Railway Garage, as it was then known, developed a loyal customer base and business boomed. Things couldn’t have been better until one fateful night in 1959 when a huge fire-razed his premises to the ground.

After such a devastating blow another man might have resigned himself to his fate and retired, but Cyril was made of sterner stuff; he wanted to leave a legacy, a dynasty if you like. So he rebuilt the showroom on the three-acre site where it still stands today as a testament to the Deal family values of honesty and integrity. And, 95 years later, the business is still in the family with Cyril’s grandson, Robert, at the helm.

Now a thriving business selling new and secondhand cars, Robert is keen to maintain Cyril’s ethos of offering his customers the very best he can. This means having around 35 pre-owned cars on offer at any one time backed up by a fully-equipped workshop offering service and MOT facilities plus a body repair workshop capable of handling everything from a small scratch or dent through to a major accident repair.
