Local residents seeking funding for rural community projects could be eligible to receive a grant of up to £5,000 with the launch of the Rural Community Fund from Calor
The Fund has been launched to give off-grid communities the chance to gain funding for projects that will improve local life.
Depending on the size of the project, there are three levels of funding available with two grants of £5,000, two of £2,500 and a further five £1,000 grants up for grabs.
Calor’s Corporate Affairs Manager Paul Blacklock, explains the reason for the launch of the Fund:
“We provide rural energy to homes and businesses in the region and understand the challenges that country living can pose, especially when it comes to accessing community facilities.
“We decided we’d like to give something back, by offering rural off grid communities the chance to source some much-needed funds for a project that will make a real difference in their area.
“Projects we support could be anything from community centres, village halls and sporting venues to youth clubs and scout groups, or they could be initiatives to support the elderly - we’re really open to ideas, big or small!
Application can be made on Calor’s dedicated website and nominations open on 3rd April 2017 for a period of six weeks. Accepted projects will be published online and the community will be able to vote for their favourite before the finalists are shortlisted.
Business in the Community and Rural England will be on the judging panel to help Calor decide on the most worthy winners and each project will be assessed on its impact, reach, volunteer support and originality.
