Galloway Country Fair is back Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of August and promises to be a brilliant weekend for the whole family. Held at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate, in Thornhill, it incorporates thrilling main ring entertainment, local crafts and foods, dog events, field sports and family activities. The successful collaboration with Defender Jam – a Land Rover lovers festival - is also back, giving two great shows for the price of one.
Thrilling Main Ring Acts
Enjoy a special appearance by TV personality Chloe Fuller with her Super Spaniels. Chloe, known from Crufts and This Morning, and for demystifying disabilities, will showcase her assistance spaniels performing important tasks like fetching emergency medication and performing life-saving alerts.
The Main Ring, sponsored by Lloyd Ltd, also includes Ollie’s Equestrian who will present trick riding and dressage, the Drakes of Hazard with a fun-filled show with skilled dogs and Indian Runner Ducks with opportunities for children to participate. Thrill-seekers will enjoy air-defying tricks and stunts from The BMX Show. Animal lovers will enjoy the Falconry displays and seeing well-known gundog trainer Adrian Slater in action.
To round up the Saturday night – don’t miss Drums ‘n’ Roses for an unforgettable end to a great days entertainment. Sunday visitors can also enjoy the return of the popular Dog Show and local Highland dancers.
Shopping Delights
Visitors can treat themselves in the large Bay.Wa sponsored food and craft marquee with a whole host of local crafts, produce and quality products to enjoy. From artisan soaps to beautiful homeware. There are also trade stands around the showground to explore.
Food heaven
Galloway Country Fair is a foody delight. From local producers and makers in the food marquee to catering stands around the site, visitors will be spoilt for choice. The Demo Kitchen also has a full programme of demonstrations featuring locally based chef Nick Morris of Station House Cookery School and others.
Dogs Galore
Dog lovers will not be disappointed, not only is the event dog friendly, four-legged friends can also get involved with the action. The Dog Show takes place on Sunday 11th August and the popular scurry and Spaniel and Retriever tests also return, run by Galloway Gundogs. A new addition to 2024 is a pop up pet photo stand with Pipscape photography!
Field Sports
As you’d expect from one of Scotland’s premium country events there are field sports like clay pigeon shooting, sponsored by Roxtons, air rifle shooting and fly-fishing masterclasses to watch and enjoy. 4x4 driving experiences are also available with Lloyd Ltd.
Around the showground
Visitors can enjoy a whole host of activities around the event, including the Reigart sponsored FREE children’s entertainment area, with lots to keep little ones happy. Gentle giants the Blackstone Clydesdales will also be back, both days, with short carriage rides.
