The port town is named for its location on the east bank of the mouth of the River Exe.

THE JURASSIC COAST
Exmouth is the gateway to the UNESCO designated Jurassic Coast, up there with the Great Barrier Reef and the Grand Canyon as one of the natural wonders of the world. Exploration of this beautiful coastline starts at Orcombe Point, where you can see the Geoneedle, an impressive landmark made from the various rock types found here.

DINOSAUR TRAIL
Staying with the Jurassic theme, there are some rather fearsome residents lurking around the street corners. Up to 17 life-sized model dinosaurs are located throughout the town as part of Exmouth Dinosaur Trail. See if you can spot them all. There’s now also a walking trail where you can collect a series of dinosaur brass rubbings.

KITESURFING FUN
Taking to the sand, sea and sky is a popular pastime in Exmouth. Kitesurfing is big news here, with professionals and first-timers eager to try out this exhilarating sport. The Exe Estuary and theSeafront are the top locations. On a perfect day, you might be able to spot more than 100 kites out on the water.

CRUISING AROUND
Family-run Stuart Line Cruises and their brightly coloured boats have been part of the scenery here since 1968. All weather, family-friendly, dog-friendly trips along the coastline, the River Exe and beyond are on offer, as wellas guided winter bird watchingcruises. This stretch of water is home to a wide range of wildlife and migrating birds.

FISH AND CHIPS
You can’t come to Exmouth without sampling the local cuisine. The Proper Fish and Chips Co, Rockfish and the award-winning Krispies - crowned the UK’s best fish and shop in 2019 – are top places (or plaices). Krispies has an impressive reputation for its sustainable fish and (secretrecipe) battered chips. Pick up your order and enjoy it beside the seaside.
