What do you call a point-to-point without horses?
Cocklebarrow racecourse made history in January by holding the first race meeting without horses. From fit farmer competitions to dog racing, live music, shopping and cark park picnics, punters came out in full force on a freezing January day to make the most of the race-less occasion. Spirits were high as visitors slipped around the muddy dancefloor in their country boots after shivering around the car boot consuming home-made sloe gin and sausage rolls. Cocklebarrow racing – with horses – was held the following week, on a somewhat less frozen day.
