Business celebrates centenary with a generous donation to Maggie’s Centres in Cheltenham
As 2019 draws to a close, Hazlewoods Business Advisers and Chartered Accountants has taken a look back at its centenary year to review what has been achieved and to thank everyone who has been a part of it.
To make this year unique for Hazlewoods, they set a target for fundraising of £100,000, and the firm successfully reached £105,586.
Hazlewoods founder, Marcus Hazlewood, began a tradition of fostering strong links with the community that continues within the firm to this day; every year, Hazlewoods opens a vote to its employees to select its charity of the year and, in 2019, Maggie's Centre in Cheltenham received 49% of the votes.
Maggie's centres are there to support all who may be affected by cancer, offering places to find practical advice as well as ways of improving and strengthening people's physical and emotional wellbeing or simply offering a place to sit quietly with a piece of cake and a cup of tea.
The money raised by Hazlewoods in 2019 will be used to fund the time of another cancer support specialist for the centre; these are experienced professionals who offer individual and group support to people who visit the centres. Maggie's centre in Cheltenham also has plans to extend and some of the money will go towards furnishing the new space to be as comfortable and welcoming as the current centre.
Managing Partner, Jon Cartwright, says: "We have been amazed by the support we have received from clients, staff and the business community as a whole this year. The generosity people have shown with their money as well as messages of luck and donations of products to support fundraising activities has been incredible and very much appreciated.
"We are delighted to have been able to support Maggie's in this way and look forward to working with many more charities in the years to come."
