A Cornwall fish and chip shop has been included on a list of the 18 best in the UK for 2023 by The Times.
Fraser's in Penzance was included and was the only representative from the county on the list.
A huge variety of chippies were featured including 1940s-style restaurants to fishermen-founded takeaways on the harbour arm.
The full breakdown of the best fish and chip shops can be seen on The Times website.
What did The Times have to say about Fraser's?
The reviewer for The Times was very complimentary about Fraser's, saying it "takes its fish very seriously".
A sister venue to Harbour Lights in Falmouth, Fraser's has a strict policy of only using "wild-caught and farmed fish from sustainably and responsibly managed fisheries".
They add: "The owners, Pete and Sue Fraser, even publish the provenance of their fish, so if you want something Cornish in batter look out for pollock or hake hooked from local day boats, which you can watch steaming into Newlyn, a mile down the coast, via the restaurant’s seafront webcam."
On the Fraser's website, it mentions that the fish is sourced using guidelines from the Marine Stewardship Council and the Cornish Good Seafood Guide.
It adds: "Our potatoes are grown at local farms, with Colwyn Farm at Perranwell Station being our principal supplier."
In the welcome on their site, it says: "If you are after top notch fish and chips served with a big smile then you are in the right place.
"Nothing can cheer you up quite like a well cooked portion of the dynamic duo. We take this responsibility very seriously and won’t let you down.
You will find us on the Promenade in Penzance and more recently also at the Turnpike in Helston."
