Afternoon Teas, in our experience, come in all shapes and sizes and mean different things to different businesses: some take a more boozy approach, offering bottomless alcoholic drinks, and some take a more traditional approach with bottomless hot drinks and an array of teas. Whichever you fancy, Cheshire and Greater Manchester have something for all taste buds. Here’s a few that have caught our eye!

Cottons Hotel

Keep calm and pour another cup of tea at Cotton’s Hotel & Spa in Knutsford. Part of the prestigious Daniel Thwaites collection, Cotton’s Hotel is a well-known and well-loved spa destination for those who are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Located on the edge of Knutsford this stunning spa is a sanctuary for every occasion, which brings us to their luxurious afternoon teas. Choosing to focus on great quality ingredients has resulted in amazing flavours and a foodies’ heaven, all priced at a very reasonable £30pp. You’ll find savoury sandwiches like Tuscan chicken on green olive bread and salmon and crème fraiche on cocoa bread, and delicate desserts such as lemon choux and strawberry macaron. Sip a glass of Prosecco or Champagne and enjoy your well-earned afternoon treat.

Meridian afternoon tea (Image: Outsauced Media)

Meridian

Newly arrived in Warrington, Meridian can be found inside of the stunning Parr’s Bank Hotel. Meridian is an intimate space that serves food from 7am, seven days a week, starting from breakfast right through to small plates and cocktails at dinner. More to the point, they also offer Afternoon Tea. Residents of Warrington have become accustomed to an afternoon treat, so when owner Jason took over the space he had a queue in his DM’s asking for Afternoon Teas. Jason has happily delivered what Warrington wanted and is now serving a delicious selection of sandwiches and sweet treats for the bargain price of £27 (£30 if you’d like a glass of Prosecco). I know which I’m choosing…
